I grew up here in Blue Springs and attended school in the Blue Springs School District at James Lewis Elementary, Hall McCarter Junior High, and Blue Springs High School. As an alumni of the district, I was very excited to return in 2001 as a teacher. While in college, I worked summer school as a paraprofessional in the Blue Springs early childhood program, which provided me with great hands on experience and the opportunity to see a variety of teaching strategies. I worked at James Lewis Elementary from 2001-2008 as a Specialized Instruction Teacher for students with autism. In 2008, I transferred to Liggett Trail Education Center and began working as an Early Childhood Special Education/Title 1 Teacher. I enjoyed working at the elementary level, but the early childhood setting has a special place in my heart.
