Michele Cole, Blue Springs South High School business teacher and director of Channel 15, has been chosen as one of four Missouri K-12 teachers honored at the Teaching with Cable Awards Banquet on January 14. The Teaching with Cable Awards program recognizes and rewards K-12 teachers and their schools in the State of Missouri that display excellence in integrating cable television and Internet resources into classroom learning. The program is MCTA’s way of recognizing outstanding teachers who use cable in the classroom and Internet resources to create new and innovative teaching and learning methods.

The Blue Springs School District works with other area school districts in the Comcast viewing area to develop and air educational programming on Channel 15, the education access channel. Production classes at the two Blue Springs high schools provide significant support for Channel 15, filming and producing several projects that appear on the channel, including monthly sports highlights, PowerPoint slideshows and a monthly cooking show. There are approximately 95 students involved in digital media production classes at the two high schools.
