Fair Celebrates Cultures
April 3, 2008

Blue Springs South High School went global on February 14 when more than 1,000 students and guests took part in the Modern Language Fair. The event, a celebration of National Foreign Language Week, included displays of student projects and performances ranging from Ger-man dancers, to skits and French poetry.
Visitors were treated to a globe-spanning variety of food, including German bratwurst, French escargot, Spanish enchiladas and Chinese rice and beef dishes.
“The study of other languages is important to our understanding of the world and ourselves. By showcasing the work and talents of the students in Foreign Language, we are reinforcing the role that other cultures and languages play in our lives,” BS South foreign language teacher Dawn Walton said. “The addition of Chinese this year added greatly to our Fair and we look forward to growing our program in the future.”
