YEAH! Spring has sprung! The cold weather seems to have finally broken. We have been taking advantage of the nice days and are going outside for recess. The students are enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
The month the students read several different books. The first one was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. The students made red and white striped hats to help celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2. The students enjoyed listening to the other silly stories by Dr. Seuss. They even listened and interacted with The Cat in the Hat living book on the computer.
Our next theme was St. Patrick’s Day. The students read and listened to stories about leprechauns and St. Patrick’s Day. They made rainbows with pots of gold at the end. Those pieces of art will be posted at the Mid-Continent South Library through the month of April.
Our next story was It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles Shaw. The students enjoyed that story. They made cloud art by using stencils and marbles. They also did a group activity of what goes in the sky.
Our last story was The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss. The students have enjoyed that story, as well. They made torn paper carrots to go with the story. They also did a group activity about what goes in the garden.
Our next all school event is the Family Fun Night. It is scheduled for May 6 from 5p-7p. Our planning committee has lots of activities planned. There will also be a student art silent auction. Mark your calendar and I hope to see you there!
