Joyce Spears steps down after 35 years in BSSD

The BSSD said goodbye to a great friend and leader at the April 13 School Board meeting, when Joyce Spears answered her final roll call after 12 years as a member.

Joyce served the students of BSSD for 35 years, first as an elementary teacher and after retirement as a Board of Education member.

Joyce is always a teacher at heart and fondly remembers her time spent in the classroom. "I enjoyed the fun and challenges of teaching. The students are great fun and a pleasure to work with," she said. "I also worked with wonderful teachers and administrators.

Spears also valued highly her time spent as a Board member and said the future of the Blue Springs School District is in great hands. "We have a supportive community and an outstanding staff of hard working employees. I see even greater success for our schools in the future."
