What is included on the MAP test?
3rd grade is the first year that your child will be taking the MAP test. This test is given to all students (3rd - 11th grade). Each assessment could require three hours of test administration time and may include any of three types of test items:
selected-response items (multiple choice)
constructed-response items (short answer)
a performance event (depends on grade level)
In the Communication Arts, Math, and Science tests the students will be responsible for understanding and having the ability to answer all three types of test items. However, your child is only responsible for one performance event per grade level.

What is my child doing in school to prepare for the MAP test?
In order to prepare our students to perform their best on the MAP test we will be maintaining our high expectations. This will include test preparation assessments during class time and extra practice at home each night with their homework. We would appreciate your help and support. Please ensure your child is getting plenty of sleep and is making healthy food choices.
What can I do at home to help prepare my child for the MAP test?
Each night, have your child:
1. Get some type of exercise.
2. Eat a nutritious dinner.
3. Lay out their clothes for the next day.
4. Get their bag pack ready.
5. Get plenty of sleep.
Each morning, have your child:
1. Get up plenty early.
2. Eat a nutritious breakfast.
3. Get to school on time.
4. Relax and feel confident that they will do well and have a great day!
