Programs awarded Missouri A+ Designation

April 3, 2008

For the past three years, the staffs of the Blue Springs Freshman Center, Blue Springs High School and Blue Springs High School have spent endless hours implementing the A+ program components by upgrading the curriculum, identifying and implementing guidelines to keep students connected to school, establishing new enrollment procedures that focus on career paths, developing advisory councils, student tutoring programs, and tracking procedures.
The hard work has paid off as the two A+ coordinators recently received notification that their respective high schools have met all of the A+ requirements and will be recommended for A+ designation at the Missouri State Board of Education Meeting in April. Both high schools had an extensive review day in January in which Department of Elementary and Secondary Education staff members and A+ staff members from other districts came in and reviewed all the work that had been done during the last three years. The primary goal of the A+ program is to ensure that all students who graduate in Missouri are well prepared to pursue advanced education and employment.
