Dr. Maridella Carter, a teacher in the Blue Springs School District, was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Standing Committee Against Censorship for the National Council of Teachers of English. Her three-year term begins after the 2007 annual convention in November in New York City, N.Y.
The committee solicits and receives reports of censorship incidents from NCTE members, constituent groups and sources outside the council. They also serve as a resource on current patterns of censorship and support the anti-censorship service office.
