Professional Development
Always conscious of the needs of its staff, the Blue Springs School District provides continuous professional development for all teachers. Teachers new to the teaching profession participate in a Mentor program, sponsored by the teachers' Professional Development committee. Teachers new to the district participate in a Colleague program, also sponsored by the teachers' Professional Development committee. The purpose of the Mentor - Colleague program is to provide teachers a collegial relationship that will give positive reinforcement to new ideas; to help new teachers gain self-confidence; to encourage teacher professional development; and to enable teachers to become self-directed individuals.
Teachers are encouraged to create portfolios of their professional development as an ongoing process during each school year.  Staff, certified and classified, may receive a partial reimbursement for college and university coursework taken during the school year.  Additional opportunities for continuous development are available through the Professional Development Committee.

The Blue Springs School District is also a member of the Greater Kansas City Cooperating School Districts.
