Changes in Adult Education

  • Assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency;
  • Assist adults who are parents to obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children; and
  • Assist adults in the completion of a secondary school education.
 HiSet test starts Jan. 1, 2014 - Information at following website: www.hiset.ets.org All Classes are FREE to eligible participants!

Available Classes

All classes are held at the following location:

*Must register and attend orientation session prior to attending 1st class. 

 

Adult Basic Education Classes

  • Reading, writing, and mathematics for learners functioning at or below the 8th grade equivalency.

HSE Orientations: Must complete 3 days/9 hours of orientation to attend class.

Orientations for 2013-2014 School Year: 

August 13, 14, 15 from 9 a.m. - noon or 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. each day.

HSE Preparation Classes

  • Reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science and literature for learners functioning at the 9 - 12 grade level.

Additional Orientations will occur in September, November, January, February and April.

Please call for dates. Registration will be based on seats available.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

  • Classes providing non-English speaking people with the language skills needed to succeed in other educational/training programs and to cope more effectively with the challenges of their daily lives.

 HSE Day Classes

Monday/Wednesday  9:00 a.m. - 12:00 pm

Tuesday/Thursday    11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Family Literacy

  • Classes and childcare are provided for parents and families that qualify.

 HSE Evening Classes

Monday/ Thursday   6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Transition Programs

  • Instruction specifcally designed to prepare adult learners to enter post-secondary education, higher education, training programs and/or to improve their employability.

 ESL Day Classes

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 Monday through Thursday

ESL Evening Classes

6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Monday/Thursday

Online Instruction

  • Web-based program available to all eligible Missouri adults with busy work or family schedules.
