Blue Springs Adult Education and Literacy (GED Program)

Contact Information Mission and Objectives
  • Assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency;
  • Assist adults who are parents to obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children; and
  • Assist adults in the completion of a secondary school education.
  All Classes are FREE to eligible participants!

Available Classes

All classes are held at the following location:

Hall-McCarter Education Center

Adult Basic Education Classes

  • Reading, writing, and mathematics for learners functioning at or below the 8th grade equivalency.

Morning Classes

  • Monday - Friday
  • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

GED Preparation Classes

  • Reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science and literature for learners functioning at the 9 - 12 grade level.

Evening Classes

  • Monday and Thursday
  • 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

  • Classes providing non-English speaking people with the language skills needed to succeed in other educational/training programs and to cope more effectively with the challenges of their daily lives.
 

Family Literacy

  • Classes and childcare are provided for parents and families that qualify.
 

Transition Programs

  • Instruction specifcally designed to prepare adult learners to enter post-secondary education, higher education, training programs and/or to improve their employability.
 

Online Instruction

  • Web-based program available to all eligible Missouri adults with busy work or family schedules.
