James Walker Elementary PTA

PTA is the largest national organization focusing on enhancing student life and education through cooperation among families and educators. The James Walker Elementary PTA is an active voice in the Blue Springs Community. The PTA has three main functions to provide activities, services, and funding for the school. This has resulted in such programs in the area of cultural arts and parent and family life events. We also assist in providing such programs as: health and safety events, student events such as class parties, and school staff events such as teacher appreciation and bus driver recognition. We are especially proud of our ability to provide the funding for many special events at James Walker Elementary.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year. This year we are planning to do a Walk-a-thon for our main fundraiser. This is a new event for us and with help from everyone we hope that it will be a wonderful fundraiser. This fundraiser we hope will help us with our funding for some new playground equipment. Board Members

President

Chrystal Simon

Overseas PTA Unit committees. Representative to Blue Springs Council, Missouri and National PTA. The president meets with the principal to plan the dates for the next school year’s events.

3rd Vice President (Programs)

Cindy Fuson

Promotes continuing education of parents and youth through a variety of programs and activities in order to foster positive family relationships.

1st Vice President (Membership)

Michelle Williams

Coordinates membership drives and keeps up-to-date records of membership information, being sure that the treasurer and secretary each have an up-todate list and insures compliance with Missouri and National PTA membership rules.

2nd Vice President (Fundraiser)

Deborah Wimmer

Develops and administers fundraising events for PTA.

Volunteers

Cindy Fuson

Compiles volunteer list for all special and standing committee chairpersons that request assistance. Assists the school’s representative in recognition of the volunteers.

Secretary

Zoe Wheeler

Records and preserves the minutes of all meetings of the JWE PTA. Provides the records of any previous meetings and forwards the names and addresses of newly elected officers to the state office no later than March 31.

Treasurer

Cassie Pearce

Have custody of and maintain a full account of the funds of this local PTA. Provides a financial statement at each meeting and presents an annual report of the financial condition of the organization.

Box Tops/Campbell’s Labels

Amanda Newland

Responsible for collecting, sorting, and submitting labels for the “Labels for Education Program”, which includes Box Tops for Education, Tyson’s A+ program and UPC’s from Best Choice products.

Carnival

Cindy Fuson

Organize carnival. Works with volunteers to design games, food, prizes, tickets, decorations for PTA.

Childcare

Finds sitters for board and/or unit meetings and other times when appropriate.

Grandparents'/Special Persons' Day

Cindy Fuson

Coordinate special persons day. Includes food, programs, visitor registration, etc.

Responsible for putting together our night with our moms.

Arranges with principal to get media coverage of newsworthy PTA events. Collaborates with the principal, president and school staff to prepare and distribute a monthly calendar/newsletter of school activities.

Julie Ammons

Coordinate submissions and judging of reflections entries. Includes organizing submissions for state competitions. Some flexibility in completing tasks to meet deadline.

Spirt Wear/Skate Parties

Jessica Martinez

Recommends sportswear items and style for ways and means project to be approved by the board and organizes sportswear sale.
