PTA is the largest national organization focusing on enhancing student life and education through cooperation among families and educators. The James Walker Elementary PTA is an active voice in the Blue Springs Community. The PTA has three main functions to provide activities, services, and funding for the school. This has resulted in such programs in the area of cultural arts and parent and family life events. We also assist in providing such programs as: health and safety events, student events such as class parties, and school staff events such as teacher appreciation and bus driver recognition. We are especially proud of our ability to provide the funding for many special events at James Walker Elementary.
The PTA would like to thank all of our staff and families that helped us in our first ever Walk-A-Thon. The kids had a great time seeing how many laps they could accomplish in the given time frame. We raised $2,371.20 for our walk-a-thon this year. We are still working toward our goal of $10,000 to go toward new playground equipment.
We have many events coming in the next couple of weeks so please mark your calendars. We have send out the information for our fall parties that are next Wednesday, October 27. We are in need of some volunteers to help decorate the Gym on Tuesday, October 26th at 6pm. We can also use your help the day of the parties and the kids would love to see you there.
Parents please be on the look out on information on Reflections 2010. Information will be coming out soon. This is a great opportunity for our kids to show their talents in literature, photography, choreography, film, musical composition and visual arts. This years theme is "Together We Can..."
Please join us for Dogs with Dad on Thursday, November 4th. This is a wonderful time for our kids to enjoy dinner with their dad or special person. Our own Mr. Johnson and Mr. Shippy will be grilling our dogs. Our student council will be helping serve during this event as well.
If you have not joined our PTA it is still not to late. We have several classes that are getting close. The cost is $5.00 per individual and $25 for businesses. These funds help go to our parties, dogs with dad, memories with mom and all other events through the year.
You don't have to be a board member to attend PTA board meetings, all parents are welcome and encouraged to attend board meetings. Attending meetings is a great way to learn more about what is going on at JWE. Please see below for the dates and times of the board meetings.
