I have been a lifelong educator with 18 years of experience as a classroom teacher and 11 years of experience as a school library media specialist.

I received my BSEd from Missouri State University and my MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University. I also have Special Certification in Library Science.

I love kids and I love books, so I have my dream job! I enjoy connecting kids and books and then watching the MAGIC happen! My goal is to motivate every child into becoming a lifelong reader and a lifelong LEARNER!

August:    Welcome Back Grizzlies! Are you ready for our Bears Book Club (click here)!

September:     During Open House the Media Center will be open and hosting a sneak peak at all the New Books added to our collection this Fall. This will also be our Truman Readers Release Party (click here), so don't miss it!  Please stop by to check out a Truman title as well as all the new books and enjoy some refreshments!

October:    Celebrate all your favorite Literary Heroes at our Reading Saves The Day (click here) Fall Scholastic Book Fair October 25th-29th. We will have a special friends and family event to promote sales, Our SVMS will host a SuperHero Bookwalk--Sure to entertain so watch for more information!

November:   Special Activities will continue with  Books With Beat (click here) our Teen Read Week, November 15th-19th,  to encourage our students to read poetry, audiobooks, books about music and more!

December:    Make sure you put December 11th on your calendar. We will be hosting a special Give the Gift of Reading Event  (click here). It's a special Christmas shopping extravaganza scheduled all day at our local Barnes & Noble Store located on 39th Street in Independence.
